The Good Neighbours Project

The good neighbours project BradfordStarted in 1989, this project is part of the community outreach of St Christopher's Church in Holme Wood and develops programmes and activities designed to help improve the quality of life, health and wellbeing of local people. The project employs 1 full time and 6 part time staff and is assisted by 17 volunteers.

One of the major projects is the care of older people at the "Home from Home" day care centre. Targeted at the over 50s, the centre is open 4 days a week providing a meal, social activities and gentle exercise for about 55 members.

The project also has a community furniture store offering second hand furniture and household goods.

How Bradford City Challenge Foundation has helped

Funding helps enhance the quality of life for older people by providing nutritious meals, safe transport and social activities; all helping to reduce loneliness and provide respite for carers.
